An imprisoned worker of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan died in Central Jail Karachi, said party and police officials on Monday.

“MQM worker Naeem Faqir died during treatment in the prison on Sunday,” said New Town SHO Ejaz Khan.

The officer quoting the jail administration claimed that Naeem Faqir died due to heart attack on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the MQM-Pakistan’s senior leaders Nasrin Jalil, Syed Sardar Ahmed and others speaking during a press conference at Karachi Press Club claimed that Naeem died of ‘lack of provision of medical treatment’ in the prison.

MQM Pakistan leaders pointed out that Naeem, the party’s worker from Lyari sector, was arrested on April 23 and was sent to Central Jail on May 19.

“He [Naeem] was suffering from breathing problem and died on Sunday,” said Nasrin Jalil.

Jalil also claimed that other detained party workers were not being provided “proper medical treatment”.
