NUML to establish Iqbal forum

A seminar on “Contemporary Perspectives of Iqbal’s Thoughts” was jointly organized by the Urdu and Persian departments of the National University of Modern Languages (NUML) here at NUML on Monday.

Renowned poet, writer, and Professor IftikharArif, Director Allama Iqbal Institute of Research & Dialogue Islamic International University Dr. Talib Hussain Sial, and Head of Department of Iqbaliat Allama Iqbal Open University Dr. Shahid Iqbal Kamran were the key note speakers, while Rector NUML Major General Zia Ud Din Najam (Retd), Director General NUML Brig Riaz Ahmed Gondal, Deans, Directors, Heads of Departments, faculty members and a large numbers of students also attended the seminar.

In their addresses, the key note speakers highlighted the vision of Dr. Allama Iqbal and said that Iqbal’s thoughts are as important now as they were in the 20th century. They said that Iqbal was worried about not only the Muslims of the sub-continent but the whole world. Iqbal strove hard to awaken Muslims and tried to recall their golden past through his poetry.

Speaking on the occasion Rector NUML Major General Zia Ud Din Najam (Retd) in his address said that it is time to educate our new generation about Iqbal and provide them with the opportunities to study Iqbal. He also decided to establish an Iqbal forum in NUML to transfer Iqbal’s thoughts to the next generation.
