HR ministry to launch TV documentary on basic rights

Ministry of Human Rights would launch a television documentary on fundamental rights of people and three public service message commercials to create awareness among masses on international human rights day, which is to be celebrated on December 10.

“The TV documentary, 10 seconds commercials on different forms of murder, values of basic human rights and importance of human rights day would be presented on the day.”

Director General HR, Muhammad Arshad told APP that the initiative has been taken under the action plan for Human Rights for mass media awareness program and capacity building relevant institutions dealing with general public.

Overall 20 advertisements on 20 different basic rights has been planned for the action plan, adding that currently they were working on designing and development of electronic and print material for awareness and advocacy campaign on rights of women, children and minorities for behavioural change in society.

He further informed that 15 posters had also been prepared on basic human rights which would be displayed outside police stations, academic institutions, hospitals and other public places to guide and educate and disseminate message to people.

These posters address issues of vulnerable groups, particularly women, children minorities and disable rights, DG HR informed.

The ministry is also working on developing material for electronic and print on child rights, including protection of children from abuse and exploitation among general public, he said.
