ECP decides to hold NA-258 by-election under Rangers’ supervision

Election Commission of Pakistan has decided to hold NA-258 by-election under Rangers’ supervision and has written a letter to Interior Ministry for deployment of the paramilitary force during the by-poll elections.

The decision to deploy Rangers supervision was taken on the request of returning officers and provincial election commissioner.

On the polling days, Rangers personnel would be deployed in and outside the polling stations.

Meanwhile, all preparation for the by-election has been completed.

287 polling stations have been set up, and  out of these 68 polling stations have been declared highly sensitive while 219 as sensitive.  On the polling day, presiding officer would have the powers of magistrate first class.

The seat fell vacant after the resignation of Abdul Hakim Baloch of Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N), who after resigning from PML-N rejoined Pakistan People’s Party (PPP). PPP’s Hakim Baloch, PTI’s Hanif Bangash and MQM’s Mumtaz Ali will be contesting the by-polls.
