Foreign Office Spokesman Nafees Zakaria on Saturday said Pakistan would lodge a strong protest with India and raise the issue of violation of Pakistani waters at the United Nations.

Speaking to Radio Pakistan, the spokesperson said India has tried to breach our territorial waters and they have been pushed back by the Pakistan Navy.

Nafees Zakaria said New Delhi is trying to deflect world attention from atrocities going on in occupied Kashmir by escalating tensions on the Line of Control and the Working Boundary.

He reiterated that the people of Kashmir are struggling for their right to self-determination in a very peaceful manner.

The spokesperson further stated that the genocide and crimes against humanity in occupied Kashmir by Indian forces have shaken the conscious of the entire international community.

Earlier, the Pakistan Navy on Friday said it had prevented Indian Navy submarines from entering Pakistani territorial waters on Monday, November 14.

Pakistan Navy issued a statement which said: “The unsuspecting submarine was detected and localised south of Pakistani coast on Nov 14.”

“Navy fleet units detected the presence of Indian submarines in the southern parts of Pakistani waters, mimiced their behaviour and restricted their activity,” the statement said.

The Pakistan Navy prevented the Indian submarines from being successful in their attempts to keep their presence a secret, the statement said, adding that the navy had constantly pursued the submarines and pushed them back.

India said the story was a fabrication. “Pakistan navy’s statement is a blatant lie. None of our boats are in that area,” said Indian Navy spokesperson Captain Sharma. “Why would an Indian submarine surface or come to snorkelling depth near Pakistani waters? Submarines are meant to be stealthy, and do not give away their presence away so easily whether they are on intelligence-gathering missions or in actual combat,” one Indian navy source told media.
