Fundamentals of Investment Climate workshop organised

Punjab Planning & Development Department in collaboration with the World Bank organised a one-day executive training workshop Fundamentals of Investment Climate in Lahore in continuation of civil servant capacity building efforts.

Punjab Chairman Planning & Development Mohammad Jehanzeb Khan while addressing the workshop highlighted the importance of making the investment climate conducive to attracting private investors. He also emphasised the need for changing the mindsets and culture within government departments. He further highlighted the importance of investor protection and observed that a shift in the approach of civil servants was required in order to improve the business environment of the province.

Planning & Development Department mobilised lead international resource persons from the World Bank to conduct this training, who gave insightful and informative presentations on investment lifecycles followed by interactive sessions.

These resource persons included senior private sector development specialists and senior economists of the World Bank. Secretary P&D Iftikhar Ali Sahoo, Members P&D Board Agha Waqar Javed, Khalid Sultan, and Sadaqat Hussain, Chief Economist P&D Dr Aman Ullah, Director General M&E Dr Sajjad Mubeen, Provincial Administrative Secretaries, Divisional Commissioners, CEO’s of public companies and other officials also attended the workshop.

Addressing the workshop, Secretary P&D Iftikhar Ali Sahoo informed the participants that the P&D Department has planned a series of such workshops which will be organised at regular intervals for civil servants with the help of the World Bank.

All the participants actively participated in the workshop and suggested that such capacity building workshops should be held more frequent.
