Extraordinary security for Chehlum of Imam Hussain (AS)

The foolproof security arrangements have been made by the Sindh police for the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS) to be observed on November 21.

According to a spokesman of the Sindh Police on Saturday, Inspector General of Police AD Khawaja was informed in a report that about 46,300 police personnel would perform security duty in the province on the occasion.

It was stated that extraordinary security arrangements were being finalized for the security of processions, Majalis and other gatherings in connection with the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS). In Karachi, some 17,950 police personnel would perform the security duty. As many as 5,727 police officers and jawans would be deployed for the security of the main procession in the city.

Sharp shooters would be deployed on rooftops of high-rise buildings. Strict surveillance would be maintained through watch towers around Nishter Park. In Karachi, some 100 big and small processions would be taken out while 460 Majalis would be held.

Meanwhile, Karachi Commissioner Ejaz Ahmed Khan chaired a meeting and reviewed arrangements for the Chehlum processions, Majalis and other gatherings. The meeting was also attended by DIGs, deputy commissioners, KMC officials, Water Board, K-Electric as well and Ulema.

The meeting decided that foolproof security arrangements would be made on the occasion. The arrangements would also be made for the provision of civic facilities including supply of water, cleanliness, lighting etc. No load-shedding would be carried out, the meeting further decided.
