Lawyers file petition against shifting of revenue office from district courts

By Farid Sabri

The office of the Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue (ADCR) is to be shifted from sector F-8 Markaz (Kacthery) to I-10/3. Currently, there is no public transport available in sector I-10/3.

The lawyers have filed a petition against the shifting of the revenue office, calling for a stay as the act will cause inconvenience to practising lawyers.

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) ordered both parties, the Islamabad City Territory (ICT) and the lawyers to solve this issue among themselves till November 18.

According to the sources close to the development on Thursday, officers of the ICT administration and the lawyers held a brief meeting.

In the meeting, the lawyers expressed their concerns about the lack of public transport for visitors who come from different cities and don’t have their own conveyance.

The ICT administration mulled on providing citizens and outsiders a public transport route and a summary in this regard has been submitted to the Chief Commissioner.

The ICT administration, however, has not yet decided that the administration will make a new route or amend the previous one to facilitate the visitors.

Having all services regarding the registration of land and revenue for citizens under one roof is direly needed.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue (ADCR) said that they decided to shift the office in the greater interest of the ICT administration, to settle all the things regarding revenue under one roof, and to have enough space to accommodate everyone,

“The shifting is almost done and the employees have also been directed to join the new office,” she said. “We’ll deliver all the facilities to everyone under one roof, and the ICT administration has also approved a new route which will enable people to reach the new office conveniently”.
