Police arrested seven Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) London workers after a clash between MQM London and Pakistan workers in Azizabad’s Jinnah ground.
A case has also been filed against these members for hate speech and provoking people.
The clash occurred as MQM-Pakistan leader and Karachi mayor Waseem Akhtar announced to arrive at Yadgar-e-Shuhada (martyrs’ monument) in the Jinnah Ground.
MQM Pakistan leader Khawaja Izharul Hassan reached the monument before the rally accompanying Waseem Akhtar but MQM-London workers at the ground started chanting slogans in favour of party chief Altaf Hussain.
MQM-Pakistan workers too chanted slogans in response but soon the slogan war turned into a scuffle, forcing law enforcers to step in. Police baton charged the workers and arrested seven of them, all belonging to the party’s London faction.
