Five volunteers of a local peace committee were killed in a terrorist attack here on Wednesday, sources in the local political administration said.
They said that six volunteers of a local peace committee were heading to Zakakhel Bazaar from Tirah Valley in Khyber Agency on a pick-up van when they were ambushed by terrorists with heavy artillery fire.
Five volunteers died on the spot, while one of them was badly wounded, added the sources.
The vehicle was badly wrecked in the armed attack.
The dead and injured were shifted to a hospital in Landi Kotal.
Security forces cordoned off the area after the attack and launched a search operation. However, no arrest could be made till the filing of this report.
