Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation and Narcotics Control Mukesh Kumar Chawla, while presiding over a meeting here in his office, said that it is our prime duty to save the younger generation from the menace of drug use.
Secretary Excise and Taxation Dr. Mansoor Abbas Rizvi and Director General E&T Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui also attended the meeting. DG Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui, while briefing the meeting, said that on the directives of minister E&T, a crackdown was ongoing against drug peddlers for the last 15 days in in Karachi, Hub Chowki, Mirpurkhas, Islamkot, Mithi and other parts of the province. Large amounts of liquor, hashish, and other drugs have already been recovered and many arrests have been made, while other investigations are also under way.
Provincial minister E&T directed the officers to speed up their raids. He added, “No one is above the law and if any officer shows negligence in this regard, action will be taken against him’. Mukesh Kumar Chawla said that it was the need of the hour that we should perform our duties honestly and to save the young generation from the use of drugs which is a curse. “We are all supposed to work on one page to get our objectives,” he concluded.
