Dar expresses satisfaction over pace of WB projects

Federal Finance Minister Senator Ishaq Dar has expressed satisfaction over the pace of project implementation and appreciated the cooperation offered by the World Bank team to Pakistan in its various development projects.

The Finance minister stated this during his meeting with a delegation of the World Bank (WB), led by Country Director Patchamuthu Illangovan here on Monday, to discuss various ongoing reform initiatives being undertaken by the government.

During the meeting, Ishaq Dar reviewed the country’s development portfolio of the World Bank in Pakistan. The progress on implementation of various projects being executed with World Bank’s assistance was reviewed. The Finance minister apprised the World Bank team about the government’s reform agenda which especially focused on reforms in the financial, insurance and banking sectors.

The WB country director appreciated the performance of the current government in introducing reforms and discussed with the Finance minister the proposed financial assistance package to be made available to Pakistan under Finance for Growth Development Policy Credit. Both sides agreed to speed up reforms process that would bring efficiency and transparency in the system.

The meeting was attended by the Finance secretary, the SECP chairman and other senior officials of Ministry of Finance and the World Bank.
