He was talking to a delegation of All Karachi Tajir Ittehad in his office on Saturday. The delegation apprised him of their grievances regarding civic problems including sanitation, encroachments, street lights, repair of roads and streets as well as of sewerage.
Malik Fayyaz assured the delegation that he would deploy the required manpower for the resolution of the problems at the earliest. He said that it was his priority to ensure cleanliness in the area where most of the markets, shopping centres and offices were located.
The chairman said that he would contact the chief engineer of Karachi Water and Sewerage Board for resolving the sewerage problems. He asked the traders to pay their local taxes regularly so that development works be carried out properly.
It was agreed at the meeting that the traders would not be allowed ‘Patharas’ and encroachments in front of the shops, streets and roads etc. The signboards and sun shades should also be in accordance with the rules.
