Supreme Court has nullified Peshawar High Court (PHC)’s verdict regarding the promotion of PTCL officer Ijaz Ahmed from grade 19 to 20. A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali heard the case.

The counsel for the applicant informed the court that Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) had promoted its blue-eyed officers in 2006 and 2012, ignoring the merit.

He informed the court that while overlooking Ijaz Ahmed, his junior officer had been given a promotion adding that the interview were conducted on the directions of the court, after which Ijaz Ahmed was told that he was not fit and could not be promoted.

The counsel for PTCL informed the court that the PHC has no right to give verdict regarding promotions within an organisation.
