Pakistan to welcome mediation on Kashmir issue by new US leadership: Sartaj Aziz

Advisor on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz said Pakistan will welcome US mediation on the Kashmir issue.

In an interview, he said US President-elect Donald Trump had promised during the electoral campaign that if elected, he will make efforts to bring Pakistan and India closer.

Sartaj Aziz said Pakistan will inform the new American leadership of the ground realities about worst human rights violations in Occupied Kashmir, adding, “We will also urge Washington to play its role in ensuring the Kashmiris their right to self-determination.”

Advisor said Pakistan’s policies have been in the right direction and acknowledged by the world at large.

Meanwhile, in an interview with Radio Pakistan’s Current Affairs Channel, Sartaj Aziz said the two countries have a priority to achieve peace in Afghanistan and eliminate terrorism at the earliest.

He said the newly elected US President Donald Trump has the agenda of economic development, and if US economy revives as a result of mega infrastructure projects, the entire world benefit from it. He said Pakistan’s business and trade ties with the United States will also improve.
