Information and Broadcasting Minister Mariyum Aurangzeb said that the security and safety of media houses are the top priority of the government.
She visited various news channels and media houses in Islamabad and asked the media to follow self-accountability mechanism as their regulations through laws is not a priority of government.
“Freedom of speech is a reflection of an elevated society, but using it with integrity reflects a civilised society,” she said.
Marriyum said that she would work to facilitate the media houses and steps would be taken for the capacity building of media professionals.
Talking about current political situation in the country, she said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif believes in reconciliation and has always kept his doors open for dialogue.
