The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) on Tuesday has demolished and sealed various buildings in the metropolis in a wake of its operation against the building constructed in violation of LDA laws.
According to the spokesman of LDA, a demolition squad has been set up for restraining construction of illegal building by instantaneously taking stern action against them.
“The squad will carry out its operations under the supervision of LDA chief town planner from Thursday and undertake vigilance field visits for identifying buildings involved in violations of building regulations” said the spokesman.
Besides relevant officers of the Town Planning Wing and officials of police force, the squad will comprise of demolitions inspectors, encroachment staff, gang-mans and other staff members, and they will have all necessary machinery and equipment to curb illegal constructions, he added.
Meanwhile, during its operation on Tuesday, the LDA staff demolished nine buildings at different locations in the city which were being constructed in contravention of building by-laws and sealing another one.
A statement issued reads that the LDA staff partially demolished two building on plot 34 Tipu block New Garden Town and plot No 8 block A New Muslim Town. LDA removed and sealed internal wall of structure on plot No 122 Abu Bakar block New Garden Town and sealed building on plot No 31 Shadman.
It further stated that during its operations on Defence Road area, the LDA staff demolished newly constructed shops in phase-2 Muhafiz Town.
The staff also razed under construction foundations along with frame and newly constructed shops opposite to DHA Rahbar.
Construction of house without approval at Theh-Punjju village, Defence Road was stopped by removing shuttering manually using gang-men.
Illegal subdivision of residential plots no 240-A in Venus Housing scheme was also demolished.
