Imran Lashari on Tuesday declined any role in sending a threatening letter addressed to Deputy Speaker of the Sindh Assembly Shehla Raza, saying how he can write such a letter in  his own name.

Lashari asserted his adversaries wrote the letter to defame him, as “How can I write a threatening letter with my own name clearly mentioned therein?”

“People who have usurped our lands want to get us into hot water,” he added.

It should be mentioned here that name and address of the sender was written on the letter containing extortion and death threats.

The letter that was written in clear Urdu script, states, “Give me Rs.500 million, otherwise, I will blow up the Sindh Assembly building and kill you.”

“You (Shehla) will meet the same fate as Benazir Bhutto,” the letter added.

Taking up the precautionary measures, Raza brought the matter to the notice of the Inspector General (IG) of Sindh Police and DG Rangers, who issued an order to ratchet up Shehla Raza’s security.
