Nat Geo’s famed ‘Afghan Girl’ Sharbat Gula on Monday is set to return back to her hometown in Afghanistan after she refused to stay in Pakistan a day after the provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa said she would not be deported to her country.
The FIA arrested her on October 26 in Peshawar for possessing a fake Pakistani identity card. On Friday, Judge Farah Jamshed had ordered the deportation of Sharbat Gula and sentenced her to 15 days in jail. She was fined Rs110,000.
The court had sentenced her to 15 days imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 110,000 on her.
Sharbat Gula is currently under treatment at the Lady Reading Hospital (LRH), where she is under tight security and is not allowed to speak to the media or discuss her personal matters with doctors, according to Zulfiqar Babakhel, the hospital spokesman.
