Three gunned down in Karachi within 24 hours, reigniting target-killing fears

At least three people were killed due to firing in different areas of Karachi within the last 24 hours, reigniting target-killing fears in the port city.

A person was shot dead in Orangi Town No. 10, while another was targeted in New Rizvia Society late on Saturday.

Today, one injured due to firing in Patel Para succumbed to his injuries. Following the firing spree, police and Rangers started raids in the city.

Karachi police have also arrested a suspected terrorist belonging to banned Lashkar-e-Jhangvi.

According to SSP Central, the terrorist was identified as Umar Hayat.

Earlier, the authorities apprehended Allama Mirza Yousuf Hussain along with nearly 40 suspects in overnight raids in Karachi, police officials said.

On Friday, at least six persons were shot dead in different parts of the port city.

Police said that unknown assailants on a motorcycle opened fire in Patel Para, killing one man and injuring another in Patel Para. Later on, the injured of the incident succumbed to his wounds in a hospital.

Former Senator Faisal Raza Abidi was arrested during a late night raid at his Karachi residence in connection with the Patel Para firing incident.

Three other people were also killed on Friday near Shafiq Mor while one person was injured in a firing incident in Hyderi, who later succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
