Woman’s eyes gouged out, limbs cut off by her brothers in Muzaffargarh

A woman’s eyes were gouged out and her limbs cut off by her brothers in Muzaffargarh after they suspected her of kidnapping one of their daughters.

The incident took place on Tuesday in Muzaffargarh, 400 km from Lahore, when the two suspects abducted their sister and gouged out her eyes with a sharp knife and also cut off her feet, police said.

One of the suspects, identified as Muhammad Afzal, had suspected that his sister – Shareefan Bibi, 40 and mother of five – was involved in the abduction of his daughter Asia.

Police said one of the brothers had earlier registered an FIR against the woman, who is in her 40s, for allegedly kidnapping his daughter.

Meanwhile, the daughter of the victim, Nusrat, told a local newspaper that her uncle along with one of his brothers committed the heinous crime to take revenge on her mother for the disappearance of his daughter.

She said her uncles wanted to kill her mother.

The woman has been shifted to Nishtar Hospital in Multan where her condition is said to be critical.

Police said a case has been registered against the accused but no arrests have been made so far.

Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif, while taking notice of this heinous crime, ordered a swift inquiry and gave a 48 hours deadline to the authorities to apprehend the culprits.
