Wall collapse incident claims two lives in Sialkot

Two labourers were killed while two others sustained multiple injuries on Saturday when a wall adjacent to an under construction plaza collapsed in Lahai Bazaar, in the jurisdiction of Kotwali police station.

According to police, some labourers were busy in construction work of a plaza owned by Maulvi Abdul Shakoor when suddenly the wall of an adjoining building collapsed during digging.

As a result, four labourers got buried under the debris. Two of them identified as Muhammad Ejaz and Muhammad Bashir died on the spot while Allah Bakhash and Noshi sustained injuries.

Rescue 1122 rushed to the spot and pulled out the victims after hectic efforts. The bodies and injured have been shifted to a local hospital.

Administrator Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) Dr Umer Sher Chathha, when contacted said that it was apparently mistake of builders, however, a three-member inquiry committee, headed by TMO Zafar Qureshi had been formed to probe the incident.

SHO, Kotwali Muhammad Asghar told APP that police were investigating.
