‘Smog spell likely to persist in Punjab for few more days’

Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) Director Mohammad Haneef on Friday asked the people to take precautionary measures as the spell of smog would last for few more days.

The PMD official said that he has never seen such level of smog in the history of Pakistan.

The health experts have also advised the people to cover their face and eyes with masks and sun glasses to prevent hazardous effects of air pollution.

Mohammad Hanif said that rains during November and December would be less than normal in Pakistan.

On the other hand, M2 Motorways from Lahore to Sial More and Rawalpindi to Faisalabad was shut down due to zero visibility, however, a decrease in the smog has also been witnessed in Lahore.

Separately, Manga Mandi, Pattoki, Okara and Sahiwal are also facing spell of fog. The Motorway Police have directed the people to avoid unnecessary travelling.

Punjab government has formed a 20-member committee to suggest measures to reduce the effects of smog.
