Though the case of Panama Papers leaks is now in the Supreme Court (SC) to decide, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) would keep on its anti-corruption movement without any hiccup.
Well-placed sources told Pakistan Today that Chairman PTI Imran Khan strictly advised the party leadership to vigorously raise the issue of corruption especially of PanamaLeaks at all forums and further speed up the public awareness campaign in this regard.
They said that Imran Khan is quite happy with the outcome of the agitation because eventually, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif surrendered himself for accountability, which was one of the main demands of the party.
However, sources said that he categorically stated that they should not let the issue of corruption dead and keep themselves well-prepared for TV talk-shows.
They said that Chairman PTI would visit Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (PK) and Punjab and would address public gatherings and workers conventions there as a part of PTI anti-corruption movement.
The PTI consultative meeting was held in Bani Gala with Imran Khan in the chair on Friday, which was attended by the party Secretary General Jehangir Khan Tareen, Secretary Information Naeemul Haq, Dr Shireen Mazari, Hamid Khan and Shafqat Mehmood along others.
During the meeting, the Panama Papers issue was discussed in threadbare. PTI lawyers’ team briefed Imran Khan regarding the Panama Papers case as well the replies submitted by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Captain (Retd) Safdar in this regard.
They said that it was decided to end attend the next session of the Upper House of the Parliament; however boycott of the National Assembly would continue.
In the meeting, Imran Khan asked to provide him with the detail of all PTI’s detained workers and those who were injured because of teargas shelling and beaten-charged by the police when they were trying to reach Islamabad for the PTI’s plan to lockdown the city.
Sources said that Chairman PTI would visit homes of the injured party’s workers, besides he would distribute appreciation certificates among the PTI workers especially those belonged to KP who faced police with courage.
