Jaffar Express escapes terrorist attack

 

The law-enforcement agencies on Friday saved Quetta-bound Jaffar Express train from planned terrorist attack by timely defusing improvised explosive device which was planted on railway track near Aab-e-Gum area in Bolan district.

A spokesman of Balochistan Frontier Corps said here that unknown terrorists had planted IED on railway track near Aab-e-Gum area between Mach and Sibi to target Jaffar Express train coming from Rawalpindi to Quetta. “After receiving intelligence information, the FC personnel and Railways Police rushed to the scene and defused the IED,” he said.

He further said the remote-controlled IED exploded when bomb disposal squad personnel of FC and Railways Police were engaged in defusing it as the terrorists hiding in mountains pushed switch of the remote to send signals to IED for explosion.

“However, the BDS personnel remained unhurt as they had worn bomb proof protective dress,” he said.

He said the law-enforcement agencies have launched operation to trace out the suspects.
