District and Sessions Judge Kamran Bashart Mufti on Friday summoned reply from Punjab chief minister in Rs 30 billion defamation case filed by PTI Secretary General Jahangir Tareen against Shehbaz Shairf over levelling accusations of waiving off loans.

During the hearing, Jahangir Tareen’s lawyer told the court that Punjab CM levelled baseless allegations of waiving off loans against his client Tareen and instead of seeking apology, Shahbaz repeated the same allegations in a press conference on October 26 which damaged Tareen’s character.

He demanded of CM Punjab Shahbaz Sharif to pay Rs 30 billion as damages for levelling baseless allegations without any evidence. The lawyer told the court that under Section 8 of the Constitution notice would be issued to the chief minister on this. The court issued notice for Nov 12 and sought reply from the chief minister.
