Actor Val Kilmer has denied news that he has throat cancer after his co-star Michael Douglas claimed he wasn’t doing well. Douglas claimed his friend Kilmer was on the losing end of a battle with throat cancer on Sunday.

Kilmer, 56, has denied he has cancer in a Facebook update posted on Tuesday. The actor let his friend and one-time co-star off the hook saying that last time he spoke to Douglas was two years ago when he was initially seeking a medical referral for a mysterious lump in his throat.

Douglas reportedly told the audience at an event in London over the weekend that Kilmer, his co-star in the 1996 film The Ghost and the Darkness, is “dealing with exactly what I had”, referring to oral cancer.

The Facebook post read, “I love Michael Douglas but he is misinformed. The last time I spoke to him was almost two years ago when I asked him for a referral to a specialist to get a diagnosis for a lump in my throat, which prevented me from continuing a tour of my play Citizen Twain.”

“I ended up using a team at UCLA and have no cancer whatsoever,” he continued. “I still have a swollen tongue and am rehabbing steadily. I’ve made three films in the last year, one of which I directed and I am presenting as a personal appearance introducing it and then answering questions after. Come see me live and happy and in person in Westwood next week if you think I’m fibbing!”
