‘PPP rejects Cyber Crime Bill in existing form’

Sindh chief minister’s Special assistant on Information, Science and Technology Sikandar Shoro said we were facing biggest challenge of cyber crime in modern era.

It is the need of the time that all stake holders should work together on this sensitive issue adding that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) had submitted 54 amendments in cyber crime bill introduced by treasury benches in National Assembly to make it more integrated, comprehensive and effective. However, government overruled PPP amendments and passed it.

He was addressing as chief guest at ‘Recent Trends in Computer Science’ symposium organised by University of Karachi’s Computer Science Department and IEEE’s Karachi section on Thursday at university’s auditorium.

He said PPP provincial government was also working at its level best to control the curse of cyber crime in Sindh as early as possible. Information, Science and Technology Department is in the process to formulate effective IT policy and Board to address IT issues.

Sikandar Shoro said that IT department had been working on several projects in collaboration with different universities to promote the research. He invited Karachi University to come up with a proposal, so that effective and strong interaction could be created for coming generations.

Earlier, Professor Badar Saleem welcomed the participants at the symposium, while senior Professor Dr Syed Aqil Barni briefed about his research experiences in the field of information Technology.

In the end, souvenir was presented to the chief guest Dr Sikandar Shoro and others.
