No more alcohol business in the name of non-Muslims: Dr Ramesh

Pakistan Hindu Council Patron-in-chief Dr Ramesh Kumar Vankwani has once again expressed serious reservations regarding the heinous business of wine in the name of non-Muslims.

In a meeting with local journalists at the Secretariat of Pakistan Hindu Council, he lauded the order of Sindh High Court to close wine shops across the province.

Dr Ramesh Kumar, who is also Member of National Assembly belonging to PML-N, emphasized that Alcohol was not allowed in any religion, adding if somebody was interested in drinking then this must not be associated with any religion.

Referring to different Hindu’s holy books, he was of the view that even on Hindu religious festivals like Diwali, and Holi, alcohol was not allowed. “Particularly, leaders are strictly prohibited to use alcohol,” he said.

On this occasion, Dr Ramesh Vankwani also showed the viral video clip of renowned Islamic Scholar Dr Zakir Naik, in which the scholar highlighted the similarities between different religions and also informed that alcohol was strictly prohibited in both religions, Islam and Hinduism.

Dr Ramesh said that association of alcohol with Hindus religion was not only hurting the religious sentiments of followers but must also be considered as a blasphemous act. He said if this wine trading was not stopped in the name of non-Muslims then as an Hindu leader, he would himself approach the Supreme Court of Pakistan to present not only Hindus’ stance over the matter, but also to brief about his rejected bill in the National Assembly to put a ban on the trade of wine business.
