Special Assistant to Sindh Chief Minister on Information, Science & Technology Dr Sikandar Shoro has said that the incumbent Sindh government would provide latest health facilities to the people of remote areas across the province through ‘telemedicine’ in which the remote diagnosis and treatment of patients by means of telecommunications technology is done. Presiding over a meeting at his office on Wednesday regarding telemedicine project, Dr Sikandar Shoro said that the project would be started within one month. He emphasized on joint efforts to start this project in Mithi and other remote areas.
Dr Sikandar further said that link between civil hospital Mithi and Jinnah Hospital, Karachi, was being established through the telemedicine to provide specialist doctors’ consultation to people at their doorsteps to save their precious time and expenses. He also directed to maintain the database of each and every patient so that it would be helpful if the patients needed follow up again.
Earlier, Digital Care CEO Dr Zakiuddin briefed the participants about the company’s profile and added that almost 500 million people around the world would have benefited with the use of telemedicine technology.
On the occasion MPAs Dr Mahesh Malani, Dost Muhammad Rahimoon, Secretary Information Technology Pervaiz Seehar, IT Director Muhammad Yousuf, JPMC Director Dr Anees Bhatti and other officers were also present.
