The Pakistan-India Peoples’ Forum for Peace and Democracy (PIPFPD) is deeply concerned over the escalation of cross-border firing across the Line of Control.

A statement issued by the PIPFPD stressed that civilians living in the border villages are the worst victims constantly living in fear of death and destruction. As a result of violence schools have been shut down and students are deprived of the fundamental right to education

An appeal was made to both governments to take urgent steps to reduce tension and end all cross border firing. “It’s high time the Directors-Generals of Military Operations (DGMOs) of both countries assume a pro-active role and use their hotlines to prevent any firing across the line of control,” the statement added.

The PIPFPD is a civil society organization which has been working for peace and understanding between the two South Asian neighbors since 1994.
