Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique on Monday said that if Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers were not stopped on their routes and allowed to proceed to their gathering areas, they would wreak havoc in Islamabad.
The federal minister was talking to pressmen, and said the above in response to a question about Police shelling on a PTI convoy led by Chief Minister (CM) KPK Pervaiz Khattak in Swabi.
“Routes have not been obstructed for either convoys or the public”, he commented. He said the CM KPK had been delivering provocative speeches that for the last two days.
He said the CM KPK was talking about locking Islamabad down, adding that the party had been sending out a message of violence and unrest.
“The government is not afraid of these demonstrations” he said.
He said when PTI workers were allowed to proceed to Islamabad in 2014 they ended up attacking PTV offices and the Parliament House.
Saad Rafique said that the government had given its permission to conduct the protest in Parade Ground on Nov 2, and was willing to make preparations for it.
In Swabi, police used tear gas shelling to disperse the PTI’s convoy led by KPK Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak, stating that they would not be allowed to proceed to Islamabad.
Meanwhile the motorway connecting Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Punjab has been sealed with containers.
