Section 144 was imposed from 30 October to 8 November by Punjab government on Saturday night.
According to a notification issued by the Home Department of the Punjab government, strict action would be taken against anyone who violates Section 144. It was imposed ahead of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) November 2 rally.
Under Section 144, a public gathering of more than five people would be considered violation of the section.
Displaying and carrying weapons is also banned under the section. No one would be allowed to remove blockades placed by the police.
The imposition of Section 144 could not, however, prevent demonstrators from gathering in Rawalpindi and at the residence of PTI chairman Imran Khan in Bani Gala area of Islamabad.
