Marriage halls given more time to implement serving one dish

Sindh government has given three more months to the marriage halls association to implement the decision of serving one/two dishes in marriage functions and wind up marriage programmes by 10 pm. The new date to implement the decision has been fixed at February 1.

Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Murad Ali Shah, took this decision while holding a meeting with Minister for Industries, Manzoor Wassan; today at CM House.

Mr Wassan, briefing the chief minister, said he had started his consultative process with office bearers of the marriage halls association for the implement of the government directive to close their halls by 10 pm.

He said it had emerged during consultations with marriage hall managements that bookings for marriage functions were made, and their menus decided, at least three to four months in advance, and that “it would therefore be unreasonable to press marriage hall managements to dishonour their commitments and reimburse their clients,”; he requested the chief minister to extend the deadline for implementation by three months.

The chief minister has given agreement to Mr. Wassan’s request, saying that this decision was being taken in the larger interest of the people.

“I have asked Mr Wassan to develop consensus among the marriage hall associations so that government decisions can be implemented with their support,” the chief minister said, adding that the decision of the government to limit menus at wedding functions to one or two dishes had been widely appreciated.
