The Counter Terrorism Department on Saturday gunned down five terrorists in an encounter at Gujranwala’s Wapda Town after receiving information regarding the presence of terrorists in the area.
The terrorists opened fire at the CTD officials as they tried to escape from the scene. An exchange of fire took place between the attackers and the anti-terror squad in which five of the terrorists were killed whereas, three terrorists managed to evade the area.
Police seized a Kalashnikov, two pistols, hand grenades and different kinds of explosive material from the slain terrorists.
A CTD spokesman said, “The terrorists were planning to carry out a major terrorist attack in the city.”
