Returning Officer Tanvirul Hassan on Saturday said 32 nomination papers were filed for by-elections in PP-78.
He said that the seat was vacated with the disqualification of Rashida Yaqub of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). Polling for by-election is scheduled to be held on December 1.
Among those who filed their nomination papers include Ahl-e-Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) chief Muhammad Ahmed Ludhianvi, Rashida Yaqub, Sheikh Fawad Akram, Sheikh Sheraz Akram, Waqar Ahmed Ansari, Arfa Majeed, Azad Nasir Ansari, Masroor Nawaz, Abdul Ghafoor Jhangvi, Asif Dhidhi, Arif alias Boota and others.
One of the candidates, Arif alias Boota, is member of the transgender community.
In 2013 general elections, Rashida Yaqub had defeated Maulana Ludhianvi by getting 42,870 votes against 40,938 votes of the latter.
