Shehbaz meets Awais Laghari, discusses development of South Punjab

Member National Assembly from Dera Ghazi Khan Sardar Awais Leghari met Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday.

Matters regarding ongoing development projects worth billions of rupees for the welfare of people of south Punjab and setting up of Fort Monroe Welfare City were discussed in the meeting.

Talking to Awais Leghari, Shehbaz Sharif said that progress and prosperity of people of South Punjab was very dear to him and Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) government has always given priority to uplift of South Punjab and prosperity of the people of this region.

He said that a sum of 173 billion rupees was being spent on the development of South Punjab during the current financial year and a number of megaprojects were being executed expeditiously. He said that 138-kilometre long roads for the benefit of the people of tribal areas of DG Khan and Rajanpur were being constructed while metro bus project for the provision of modern transport facilities of international standard in Multan, the biggest city of South Punjab, is nearing completion.

Shehbaz Sharif said that this project costing billions of rupees would soon be inaugurated. He said that metro bus project was a splendid gift for the people of South Punjab as modern, speedy and economical transport facility would become available to the people of Multan and South Punjab through metro buses.

Shehbaz Sharif said that potable water was the right of every citizen and a project worth billions of rupees has been started for the supply of clean drinking water to the people of South Punjab.

He said that more than 80 modern water filtration plants have been installed in five districts of South Punjab, and added that Fort Monroe Development Authority has been set up to make Fort Monroe a tourist spot in South Punjab and that this step will result in promotion of tourism as well as development of the area.

The chief minister said that the Punjab government had taken effective measures for the development of public health sector. He said that modern treatment facilities have become available to the masses due to setting up of a state-of-the-art hospital in Muzaffargarh.

He said that Punjab government was implementing a balanced development policy, as public service is the hallmark of the PML-N. He said that he was personally monitoring the pace of ongoing welfare projects in South Punjab, and added that journey of progress and prosperity will continue under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.

MNA Awais Leghari appreciated the vision of the chief minister with regard to uplift and prosperity of South Punjab and said that provincial government led by Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif had taken revolutionary steps for the development of this region.

He said the chief minister was taking personal interest in the completion of public welfare projects in South Punjab, which is a proof of his love for the people of this region.
