KP CM meets Scottish police chief executive on his visit to Scotland

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Chief Minister Pervez Khattak, in a meeting with Chief Executive Scottish police authority and Assistant Chief Constable Malcolm Grahm during his visit to Scotland on Wednesday, said that KP Police was now working on professional lines.

Police stood depoliticized with financial and administrative autonomy and its operational policing, investigative policing and prosecution compatible to any professional police force, he said.

This he stated during his visit to Scotland police College Campus, Tulliallan, Scottish crime campus in Gartcosh. The chief Minister was accompanied by CTD and Special Branch Additional IG Salahuddin, DG Prosecution Adil Sadiq, Ex-IGP Fayyaz Toru, CM’s Principal Secretary Muhammad Israr and representatives of British High Commission Susan Loughhead and Albert.

The Scottish Police head gave a brief presentation and assured support to KP government in capacity building, development of curricula, on job trainings, model police station development and learning of experience.

The chief minister was for learning from each other in different areas including counter terrorism, prosecution and forensic studies. The police academy head took CM to various specialized departments of the academy. They also appreciated the new police ordinance introduced by KP government.

Khattak was briefed about the Scotland’s changing demand and public services, financial constraints, reforms, strategic planning, identifying and integrating best practices, enhancing transformational capacity, performance and risk, improving structure, resources, utilization, productivity and efficiency, Scottish policing priorities including prevention, public safety, collaborative working, localism, accountability and adaptability and the futuristic working of policing.

Later, CM also visited Glasgow consulate general and remained there with Consular General Rumman Wazir and discussed issues of Pakistani community and businessmen. The meeting was also attended by Ghulam Dastagir chairman Economic Zone Company. Consular general appreciated the potentials and advantages of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and assured full support to KP business community.

Khattak appreciated the efforts of staff of Consulate General Pakistan for extending support and facilitation to all Pakistanis in general and KP in particular.
