JoSH’s Qurram, the voice of Bilal Ashraf in Rangreza soundtrack

Qurram Hussain, the lead vocalist and brains behind the music of world famous South Asian band JoSH, is to be the voice of the lead character played by Bilal Ashraf in his upcoming movie ‘Rangreza’.

He will be a playback singer for four songs of different genres. Qurram is also the music director for the film.

Qurram Hussain is going to make his debut as music director and playback singer in Pakistani film industry with ‘Rangreza’.

Talking about the project Qurram said, “I’m doing four songs for the movie ‘Rangreza’. All these songs are of different genres, so it’s a lot of fun trying my hand at different styles of music for this film.”

“I will have the chance to try my hand at different genres that I have not been able to explore with my band JoSH,” said Qurram in an interview.

The music recordings for the film’s soundtrack have begun, and Qurram has arrived in Pakistan for the recordings from Canada and will stay for one month to focus on the film’s music.

“I have to develop an entire song that would be suitable for a small clip from the film, that alone is something very exciting for me,” said Qurram.

“So we have to explore a different genre for every song based on the scene from the film,” said Qurram.

Qurram said he couldn’t have chosen a project better than Rangreza to make his debut as a music director in Lollywood.

Despite being approached by directors and producers for various projects, Qurram said, he chooses Rangreza for his debut film project. He also revealed he would also have a short appearance in the video of one song. “We have not finalised which song yet, but the songs start taking shape, we can decide where my feature will make the most sense.

He said that he had been in the conversation for three other movies projects.

“There is a lot of good energy in the entertainment industry of Pakistan, so lots of those projects are looking for a new sound, and are happy to hear that I can bring in a fresh sound.”

Qurram also condemned the recent attack on a police academy in Quetta and expressed solidarity with the victims.

He said that he had stopped the recordings of his songs for a couple of days in solidarity with the victims of the attack.

Qurram said on his experience of being a Pakistani living in Canada, he is often questioned about the situation of terrorism in the country.

He said that a person should stay true to their roots and despite all the negativity people should continue loving their homeland and promote it in a positive light.

Rangreza is an upcoming 2017 Pakistani musical romance film directed by Amir Mohiuddin, produced by Yasir Mohiuddin and Usman Malkani and written by Akhtar Qayyum under the production banner of Vision Art Films

Qurram has been the brains behind the music of JoSH the band for 15 years and gave the band world fame for Bhangra and fast music. And, now he has stepped in the Pakistani film industry.

The film features Gohar Rasheed, Bilal Ashraf, Urwa Hocane, Saleem Mairaj and Akbar Subhani in the main cast.
