The deadly terrorist’s attack on Police Training College in Quetta — in which more than 60 people have lost their lives and over hundred are injured — has raised many questions.
According to sources, 700 cadets, who had attended their passing out parade two days ago, received directives from a senior officer to stay in the academy instead of leaving for their homes.
All the policemen, most of them fresh recruits, were present in the college without weapons.
It was also learnt that militants planned the terror attack in the presence of the cadets, however; the investigation is underway to find out why recruits were ordered to stay in the training centre and who assisted the attack.
On the other hand, at least 60 people embraced martyrdom while 117 sustained severe wounds as three gunmen from a Taliban-linked group burst into the sprawling academy, targeting sleeping quarters.
The attack on the Balochistan Police College, around 20 kilometres east of Quetta, began at around 11:10 pm (1810 GMT) on Monday night, with gunfire continuing to ring out at the site for several hours.
Frontier Corps (FC) and other law enforcement agencies arrived at the scene soon after the attack and launched an operation.
