Law will take its course if attempt made to disrupt govt: Pervaiz

Federal Minister for Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage Senator Pervaiz Rashid said on Monday that those resorting to politics of `sit-ins’ did not want the country to make the much-needed headway.

Talking to reporters at the residence of slain qawwal Amjad Sabri here, the minister said that all the democratic forces in the country would counter the designs of those who were practicing the politics of disruption and unrest.

He was of the view that after the issuance of notice to the respondents by the Supreme Court, there was no justification for any “dharna”.

“If Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has trust in the apex court then he should have waited for its verdict,” he added.

The minister made it clear that if any attempt was made to disrupt the normal functioning of the government as well as the lives of the people in the capital, then the law would be applied to restore normalcy.

Lauding the late qawal Amjad Sabri, the minister said that he had earned a good name for Pakistan at the international level.

Earlier, Pervaiz Rashid met the family members of late Amjad Sabri and presented a compensation cheque of Rs 10 million on behalf of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
