Indian forces kill youth, death toll in occupied Kashmir rises to 111

In occupied Kashmir, the death toll has risen to one hundred and eleven when Indian police killed another youth in Badgam district.

The 22-year-old, Javed Ahmad Mir, was killed after sustaining head injury with one of the teargas shells fired by the police to disperse protesters in Nasrullahpora area of the district.

Local residents said that policemen resorted to heavy teargas shelling and aerial firing to disperse the local youth who were protesting peacefully.

The local residents said that Javed Ahmed was a first-year college student and was also working at a sawmill to help his family.

One of the shells hit Javed Ahmed on the head and injured him seriously,” they said.

The demonstrations against the killing were held in various areas of Budgam including Soibugh, Galwanpora, Sebdan, Bathara and Dooru.

Meanwhile, Indian police and troops during their continued crackdown arrested more than seventy people from different parts of the held valley.

Since July 8 this year, the valley has been under the grip of a curfew. Tensions erupted after a young separatist Burhan Wani was shot dead by Indian Forces.

Pakistan has raised the issue of human rights violations in the occupied valley at various international forums including the United Nations a decision which has not been taken lightly by India.

In the last few months, India has resorted to unprovoked firing across the LoC. On September 29, India claimed to have carried out ‘surgical strikes’ across the LoC in which two Pakistani soldiers were martyred. Pakistan dismissed the claims of the surgical strikes. India has so far failed to provide any proof of any such strikes.
