The management of Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, in a statement, once again condemned the accusations regarding the investments of the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Trust (SKMT), which it said were baseless.
They said it was regrettable that a globally acclaimed charitable institution was being unnecessarily targeted by some politicians for their political motives.
The management said that all details regarding the matter of SKMT investments had been previously shared in depth with the public. The investment had been made by SKMT for its endowment fund on the recommendations of the Investment committee, and had been clearly reflected in the audited accounts when it was made and now was visible in the accounts when it had been returned in full, they said.
These transactions were and are publicly viewable on the organization’s website, read the management’s statement, and the existence of this investment was transparent and not a secret revealed by some third party.
The management continues to appeal to all the politicians not to drag this credible organization into any sort of politics, and let it achieve its humanitarian goals
