CTD foils major terror bid by killing three Al-Qaeda-linked terrorists

Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) claimed to have foiled a major terror bid and gunned-down three alleged Al Qaeda terrorists in Gujranwala.

On a tip-off, the CTD conducted a search operation at Aroop area of Gujranwala on Tuesday, where the terrorists opened fire at the police. The CTD, in retaliatory firing, shot dead three terrorists affiliated with a banned outfit.

Two terrorists fled the scene because of the darkness. The CTD personnel have cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to apprehend them.

According to a CTD spokesperson, the deceased were affiliated with Al- Qaeda and were planning to carry out attacks on sensitive sites and places in the city.

The CTD personnel also recovered two Kalashnikovs, two pistols and hundreds of bullets from the suspects’ possession.

The bodies were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital for post-mortem.
