A bit of an embarrassment for Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, when it became clear that the award for Best Finance Minister of South Asia, 2016, awarded to him, apparently by an affiliate body of the IMF, turned out to be a pasand-ka-fatwa.com
Turns out that Emerging Markets, the publication, had nothing to do with the IMF and that this particular issue was practically subsidised by the government of Pakistan since it was plastered with the advertisements of state-owned enterprises.

There was word since long of a special media cell having been set up in the prime minister’s residence under the direction of the prime minister’s daughter. A smear campaign has now started that alleges that the cell is being funded on tax-payer rupee. The campaign alleges that the youngsters working in the cell are fabulously remunerated for their services. The group, says a video viral on Whatsapp, also includes Maryam Nawaz’s daughter i.e the prime minister’s granddaughter.
