Pakistan said on Saturday that Indian forces were committing ‘crimes against humanity’ in a disputed Himalayan region. “The constantly deteriorating humanitarian situation in Indian Occupied Kashmir is a matter of grave concern to the people and government of Pakistan,” the Foreign Office said in a statement.

It has been 100 days since the extrajudicial killing of Burhan Wani and the Indian forces have unabatedly been indulging in crimes against humanity in the disputed valley, it added.

The statement deplored the conditions in IOK, saying that more than 150 innocent Kashmiris have been martyred in cold blood. It added that over 15,000 have been injured and around 1000 suffer from eye injuries due to the merciless use of pellet guns by Indian forces.

The Foreign Office voiced deep concern over the enforced disappearances of Kashmiri youth at the hands of Indian forces with their fate remaining unknown for months.

“People and the government of Pakistan remain extremely worried over the continued detention of Hurriyat leaders,” it added. “The illegal detention of APHC Chairman Syed Ali Geelani has been taking a toll on the health of the veteran leader.”

The Foreign Office also voiced serious concern over the mental torture being inflicted upon Mirwaiz Umar Farooq by keeping him in solitary confinement. “The health of Yasin Malik has been allowed to deteriorate in inhuman conditions in prison”.

It added that prolonged detention of Hurriyat leaders in the inhuman environment was a serious violation of human rights. The statement also pointed out that Asiya Andrabi has been under arrest for more than two weeks and her state of welfare is unknown.

The Foreign Office called for the attention of the international community, particularly, the UN secretary general, UN high commissioner for human rights, OIC secretary general, and UNSC permanent members for taking immediate measures to stop India from committing genocide of the defenceless Kashmiris.
