Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Pervaiz Rashid has said China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) will usher in a new era of development in the region.
He was addressing participants of the Ningxia Car Rally Friendly Tour to Pakistan and Arab States, in Islamabad on Sunday morning.
The Minister said CPEC is a network of railways, roads, energy projects, infrastructure, and cultural linkages, which will further enhance people to people contacts between Pakistan and China.
He said Pakistan presents attractive tourist destinations and participants of the rally would certainly observe that feature of our country. He said people to people contacts should be further enhanced beyond governments levels.
Pervaiz Rashid hoped that the rally will open up a new chapter of warm relations between Pakistan and China. He said Pakistan and China have much in common like art and culture.
He said friendship between China and Pakistan is higher than the highest hills, deeper than the deepest oceans, and sweeter than the sweetest honey in the world.
Addressing the function, Chinese Ambassador Sun Weidong said China-Pakistan Economic Corridor has entered into full implementation with remarkable progress.
He said projects worth sixteen early harvest projects are under construction with the total investment of 13.8 billion dollars and added that tens of thousands of jobs have been created for the local people.
Chinese Ambassador said the CPEC will bring benefits to all the people of Pakistan. He said the passage coming through western part of Pakistan to Gwadar is definitely part of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. He said all routes will lead to development and prosperity. He said under one belt one road initiative, CPEC will make its own contribution to reviving the great Silk Road spirit.
He pointed out silk route will open up new areas of progress and progress for the two countries. He said Pakistan and China linked by road through Silk Road. He said ancient silk route is now transforming into connectivity, industrial cooperation, trade, business and flow of information and people.
Sun Weidong said this car rally will further promote friendship and cooperation between the two countries. He said the participants of the rally have travelled seven thousand kilometres from Ningxia province to Pakistan. He said the participants of the rally are the true advocate of great Silk Road spirit.
The function was also addressed by Deputy Governor of Chinese province Ningxia Wang Heshan.
Chinese and Pakistani artists performed on the occasion highlighting the culture of the two countries.
