Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the government had launched several revolutionary programmes worth billions of rupees for boosting and developing the rural economy
In his message on International Day for Rural Women, the chief minister termed the rural women genuine hard workers and commended their role in the development of rural economy.
He said that this day was celebrated particularly to recognise the rural women’s contribution in developing the society and growth of the country.
The chief minister said that about 60 to 70 per cent of human resource services in the agricultural sector were being provided by the rural women.
He stressed that the women living in villages work from dawn to dusk while standing shoulder to shoulder with their male companions in the fields to make both ends meet, and added that these women are main pillars of agriculture and livestock in the country.
