Imambargah trustee shot dead, target killing makes comeback

Target killers in Karachi have once again been active as at least three people were killed on Saturday in a targeted killing attack which also left three wounded in firing incidents leaving Karachiites faced with apprehensions regarding their security during the holy month of Muharram.

According to reports, a firing incident took place in Gulistan-e-Johar’s Block-8, where unidentified miscreants ambushed a man and his son, killing the father on the spot and injuring the son.

According to police, the deceased has been identified as Manzoor and his son as Ammar. Police said the two were headed home after attending a mourning majlis in connection with Muharram.

Another incident took place in the Federal B area where a man was killed. He was identified as Ahmed Ali.

A firing incident occurred in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, where shooters wounded two people in a gunfire attack. The injured have been identified as Jawad and Haider. The duo came under attack at the end of a mourning majlis.

Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen condemned the attack on Mansoor and his son. The MWM spokesman said Mansoor Zaidi was a trustee of Zain-ul-Abideen Imambargah.

The MWM also demanded the early arrest of the killers.

According to eyewitnesses, the terrorists were riding a motorbike. Following the attacks, heavy contingents of police and paratroopers ratcheted up patrolling and snap checking in different areas.

Meanwhile, the Rangers issued alert for the security during Muharram, and motorcyclists and drivers of vehicles have been advised to carry travel documents.
