Amid ongoing tensions between Pakistan and India and the threat of Indian extremist party to ban Pakistani actors, Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan came in the front line and spoke about the recent deteriorating relations.
Fawad Khan recently released a statement calling for India-Pak unity.
In a Facebook post, the actor made clear that he had not travelled to India in the recent past, saying:
“I’ve been in Lahore since July as my wife and I had been expecting our second child. I’ve received numerous requests from the media and from well-wishers worldwide asking me for my thoughts on the sad incidents that took place in the past few weeks. As a father of two little children, I pray and wish like many others that together we can build and live in a more peaceful world. I believe we owe it to our children who will shape our tomorrow.”
He continued on saying, “This is the first time I have spoken on the matter. Please disregard any other words attributed to me during this time because I have not said them. I thank all my fans and fellow artists from Pakistan, India and people, in general, all over the world who have shown continued support for their belief in love and understanding to unite a divisive world.”
Earlier, there has been much speculation about the fate of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, the Indian movie that Fawad Khan is set to feature in. Only today, Indian newspapers reported that Fawad Khan will not be promoting the film in India.
-Mahira Khan strongly condemn terror acts-
Actor Mahira Khan, who will be making her Bollywood debut in her upcoming movie ‘Raees’, has finally shared her views about the ongoing tension between India and Pakistan.
After Fawad Khan made a statement on Friday, Mahira Khan has followed suit. The star took to her Facebook page on Saturday.
“In the 5 years that I have been working as an actor I believe that I have tried my best to keep my country’s respect intact – by being a professional and by representing Pakistan here and elsewhere to the best of my abilities,” she said.
“As a Pakistani and citizen of the world I strongly condemn any act of terror, any loss of human life no matter which soil it is on. I will not rejoice in bloodshed and war. I will always hope for and dream of a world where my child can live without it, and always plead with everyone to imagine a peaceful world,” she added.
She continued: “It has also been in this time my faith in saner minds and goodness has been restored, thank you for the messages, love and support. Hoping and praying for peace always.
Following the Uri incident and deteriorating relations between India and Pakistan, one of the biggest hits was felt by Pakistani and Indian actors.
The Indian Motion Picture Producers Association’s (IMMP) banned Pakistani talent from working in India, which invited criticism not only from Pakistan but within India too. Pakistani cinemas responding by refusing to air Indian movies locally.
The actress is one of the many Pakistani artistes, who have been banned by the Indian Motion Picture Producers Association (IMPPA), from working in India till the relations between the governments of the neighbouring countries are favourable.
I hope Fawad Khan learns the reality soon. India – Pakistan unity ….. two opposite ends of a pole can never become one.
There should be no ban on art, they are artistnot terrorist.
